Seaming horizontal & vertical garter stitch

Hi all!

I actually hope this is a stupid question - something so easy that people will jump in right away with the brilliant, but simple answer. :slight_smile:

I just completed the Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise Jacket. It only needs two seams, along the shoulders onto the tops of the sleeves. The garment is all garter-stitch, but because of the way it is folded to form the jacket, the garter stitch at the front is vertical, but the garter stitch at back is all horizontal. This is my first sweater, my first garment with a seam for that matter. Help!
