So, I just finished making a scarf out of Misti Alpaca…and it’s scratchy/itchy! Has anyone else had this problem?
little tiny fibers… that’s what causes it usually. Did you have any troubles when you knit it? If your hands itched a lot while knitting it, you might be alergic to the fiber too.
I don’t think I had a problem with my hands while knitting it…maybe my neck is just more sensitive.
I forget the brand of alpaca - but I too made a scarf out of an alpaca/silk blend that felt beautiful to my hands while knitting and is quite unbearable around my neck. It’s a shame too b/c it is a beautiful pattern.
Really? I haven’t knitted with Misti Alpaca before but I read from somewhere that it’s the ‘softest’ alpaca yarn out there…uhmmm…so it’s not true?
I am knitting with Berroco Ultra Alpaca and it feels nice on my neck!
Some people are more sensitive than others… I can’t wear most wool or wool type yarns…just too itchy even when others say it’s so soft! :doh:
The Misti Alpaca actually is REALLY soft. Once I got it I couldn’t put it down…it’s just bothersome around my neck. I put on a wool sweater today and it itched too…
