Love it! I too likely would end up buying more yarn of a colour I just must have and ultimately would end up with more scraps. LOL!

Hey, we have to support our yarn stores.

I am excited to start now! Thank you!!
So it’s like you’re knitting scarves and then sewing them together?? I really like how these look together!!
Knitcindy
Hi knitcindy: Yes, it is just like knitting scarves and then seaming them. I am toying with the idea of crocheting a single row around them all before I seam, but that’s just me. Thanks for the feedback, and would love to see a pic if you do it, too!
I have just completed a full-size blanket, trying to use up my left-overs. It started well, and went quickly. I started in the middle and worked round and round to the outside. It was using up yaran very fast!!
Then I didn’t have enough to complete a section, so I actually had to go out and BUY more yarn! I didn’t have what I needed!
Then I hit a bump in the road, and didn’t want to work on it anymore. But eventually, I got the yarn I needed, and the enthusiasm to do the final border, and it is done! Yes, I like the way it looks, and am glad to have it completed.
Now I am thinking of doing another one. I do have a lot of yarn! But now I will be aware of how much I will need – of the same type, and colours. It was a fun project, except for those few times I ran into difficulties.
Good for you perservering!!
Can you post a picture?
Yes, I have completed the blanket and I have a pic for you.
I started with the two rectangles in the middle – the pink and the grey. I then knit the white incorporating them both, and then the black around it all to give an edge. Then continued round and round with white, and used the black to edge every section before changing to another colour. It did it in garter stitch, thinking it would be easier, but didn’t remember that garter in the round means knit and then purl one round! But I wanted it to be reversible, so I stuck with garter.
I like a folded hem, so the last section of black is knit extra wide, with increases, and then decreases on the second half. I then grafted the last row on the reverse side to keep it stretchy like the rest of the blanket. This took a long time, but I like the result very much.
It is folded away and I will bring it out once it gets cold enough for it. Nothing is wasted!
It measures 72 inches long and about 48 inches wide – just as I wanted. It started out so easily, but I had forgotten that each round gets longer and longer! So by the end, each round took much longer to knit than I expected. Still, I am glad I did it. I will do another one day soon!
I am blown away! I just love it. And your description of how this came about. Knitting in the round making what kind of looks like a log cabin blanket.
Just brilliant! Thank you for sharing. What a pleasure.
Beautiful, interesting pattern choice and colors. I like how you highlight each section with the black outline
