How long of a scarf would you make for someone who is 5’3"?
I usually make my scarves 5’ long (and all receivers have been 5’8" and up). Wondering if this would be too long for my friend…don’t want to smother her in yarn!
It might depend on how you’ve seen her wear other scarves. I’m 5’6" and I like really long scarves that can be wrapped one or two times, but she might prefer the kind that just tuck into your coat. I think, though, that people like having scarves of different lengths, so whatever you make will probably be fine. But maybe in this case, 4 1/2 would be better than 5?
I think it depends on the scarf. Is it a sheer lacy scarf or one of those heavy double knit tubes? How does your friend like to wear her scarves, over a sweater or under the collar of her coat? Will she be wearing it with a sporty jacket or with a long coat? Does she wrap her scarves or fold them in half and tuck it through? I’m no help at all… sorry.
It isn’t a very thick scarf…Scruncable pattern (on Ravelry) made with Red Heart Soft Yarn. Mostly she wears it under a coat and not wrapped around her neck multiple times.
I am thinking 4.5 feet would probably work ok for this.
I tend to agree, I love the ‘scrunchable scarf’. I’m 5’4" and I just measured my favourite scarf, it’s 60" long, or 66" if you add the fringes. Hope that helps. It’s also 6" wide.
I’m 5’2" and make most winter-wear warm scarves all about the same length - somewhere between floor-to-chin and floor-to-nose on me. I honestly have no idea how long that is, but the scarves work for me, and my dad (5’11") also likes them that length.
If I had to make all mine twice as long as the person is tall, I’d be knitting forever! Most of my nephews, in-laws, and one of my children are between 6’ 0" and 6’ 6". I sure don’t want to knit a 13’ long scarf!
I’m 5"2" tall and I make my scarves 5’. Also I have a friend that is 5’ and I made her a scarf that was 5’ long. I asked her if it was ok she said it was perfect length.
