Oh, I can’t wait! I love trips to the mountains, and it also gives me a new excuse to buy ridiculous amounts of yarn. I’ve never been before, but I will absolutely be there! (Just look for the girl dragging her boyfriend behind her.) :teehee:
OMG! I think I need to start a spreadsheet before we forget who will be coming!

I look forward to meeting you, Jessica!
I’ll be taking the “Oops” Workshop - Sat. 9:30 -11:00
and I’m thinking about the Beginning Knitting 2:00-4:00.![]()
I took the Beginning Knitting class two years ago, and it really helped me. I just wanted to be sure that I was doing things right. It’s the only knitting class I’ve ever taken.
I’m on the waiting list for the two socks on circs class.
The only other class I’m considering is the one on armholes. Sounds a little boring, but when I make things without a pattern that’s the part I have the most trouble with.
I’ve started the spreadsheet.
Right now, we have 9 confirmed, and 8 tentative:

:teehee:
Shandeh…
I am off Nov 2 week and will be staying near Asheville after the fun of SAFF is a fond memory… I doubt if I’ll make it this year…
oh snap. i just made the mistake of scrolling down the list of vendors.
that job better hurry up and get here. :roflhard:
:pout: Oh well…I guess we’ll let you miss this time, but we won’t like it much. :verysad:
Ooooo YEAH…Brooks Farm
and Yarns Forever ![]()
There are LOTS of amazing choices for yarn. ![]()
I like to buy handmade soap there too, because my face reacts to commercial cleansers. I like the oatmeal and goat milk soap.
Well, I thought about coming, but it just isn’t going to work out this year…BUT I am already making plans for next year:roflhard:
An unrelated question for all you Asheville bound (or more for those of you who live nearby) - I have a sister who lives in Fletcher (recently retired to there) and I would like to make her a Christmas gift…she walks outside every day…does the weather get cold enough for a hat/scarf down there? I’m just not sure and want to knit her something she’ll USE rather than just appreciate! TIA (and hope you don’t mind me hijacking the thread just a little bit). :eyebrow:
A hat and scarf will DEFINITELY be used in that area. The mountains get COLD in the winter! (It gets cold in my area too sometimes, but not that often.)
Thanks Shandeh - think I will start knitting - just wanted to confirm first ![]()
my family went to the biltmore estate in december of '88. in all the pictures, it looks more like fall, but we’re all wearing our winter coats. it was definitely cold. i think a hat and scarf would be perfect, especially for someone who lives in the mountains. ![]()

yes a wonderful gift for the area…
chrislt8, as one who lives in that area, the answer would be YES. (Last winter wasn’t too bad, except we had a hard freeze in APRIL.) And if she’s up on a mountain at all, then definitely yes.
Thanks everyone for your replies - being a Northerner I just think of the Carolina’s as WARM…but thought being at the base of the mountains thought that it might just be cold enough for long enough to make the scarf/hat a usable gift! Will have to pick some yarn and get started knitting!
