S1 s1 k1 psso

I’m knitting a sweater with a raglan sleeve with the above decrease. I have 51 st on the needle. Later in the pattern there is a K2tog and after these decreases should end up with 49 st. I’m having a problem with the s1 s1 k1 psso and can find no video or explanation online. Can anyone help me? Many thanks.

I think you’re confusing 2 decs - there’s ssk, and sl 1 k1 pssso. They both slant to the left and decrease 1 st; they’re basically the same, but done differently. Maybe that’s what’s confusing you that they’re not one dec but separate ones. The decreases page here has both of them.

There is a sssk, but that’s a double decrease, the counterpart to a k3together.

Yes, I’m confused, really confused.

For some reason I can’t get my head around this portion of the pattern. Can you explain it step by step, maybe that way I would get it.

Thanks again

Is your pattern really saying “slip1, slip1, knit 1, psso”? It could be a double decrease. Watch a video for slip1, knit1, psso (go to the Free Videos tab at the top of this page and look under decreases) and then modify it by slipping 2 sts, one after the other, k1 and pass both slipped sts over the knit st. Try it out with some spare yarn while you watch the video and then try it with 2 slipped sts and passing both over the knit st.

Yes, exactly how is that row written? Another thing could be you slip 1 st at the beginning of the row, then sl1 k1 psso and the first slip st doesn’t have anything to do with the decrease.
