?s with Lace Sock

First time I’m knitting socks - ribbed cuff went great and now I’m onto the lace. Now it’s the first time I’m knitting lace, too :cheering:. A few questions I can’t seem to find answers to (oh, pattern is Cutesie in TOFUtsies at the bottom of this link - http://www.soysilk.com/patterns/socks.html) There are 4 rounds to the lace pattern, rnd 2 and 4 you knit.

  1. After doing the first round, I came to the place where I had done a YO, and I’m not sure where to knit - in the big holey part, or through the tight little stitch on the needle or both?
  2. Rnd 3 of the lace calls for doing a yo and then a p1. Does this mean I do a yo as if to purl? If doing a yo as if to knit, it seems that I have to bring it over twice to be able to purl that next stitch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I’m in the first rounds of lace, and I don’t want to continue if what I’m going is wrong. :wall:

I’m knitting lace socks too for the first time. To answer your ?'s:
1). knit into the YO (big holey part) just like you would any other stitch. It will leave a hole that makes up the “lacey” look.
2) When you YO before a purl stitch, bring the yarn between the needles, then over the right hand needle, and then bring it forward again to purl. It’s like you’re wrapping the yarn completly around the needle.

Hope this helps and makes sense!

A yo before a purl is generally done the same way as usual: do a yo so wool is ready to knit, then just like always after a knit, bring the wool forward between needles so you can do the purl.

But if you want the yo to be the same size as yos before a knit, you can bring the wool around in the other direction.
