Rounded needles, patchwork pattern

Hi everyone!! Nice to meet you all!

I am a fairly new knitter, I have a question for the experienced knitters - I have created a hat in a patchwork pattern, thinking that when I came to a new colour (previously tied to the old colour) I could pick up the yarn when I came back around to it, but the fact it was knitting in the round the colour was at the opposite end of the colour square (if that makes sense).

Does anyone know a way I could do this pattern without weaving in +100 tails at the end? I have attached an image.

Look forward to anyones help!!!

Thank you <3

Suzie

You are more adventurous than I am for a relatively new knitter. I think it looks great!

Awh thank you! I like the look of it, my problem is tieing in all the tails at the end! there was loads!

Wondering if there is a way of picking up the each colour yarn when I get around to it to limit the amount of tails :worried:

Wish I could help. Color work on my “to do” list. I’ve been focusing on socks & sweaters and I do not like weaving in ends either. But there are great people here who I know will be able to give you good suggestions.

Very nicely done!
There are two ways I can think of to work this. One is to knit the hat flat and seam it. Then the color you want is where you need it.
The second is the short row cheat. You’re still knitting in the round but turning when you get almost to the end of the round. working a short row turn and then knitting back over the previous sts. This video uses yarn over short rows which work quite well.

There’s also a slightly more complicated 3rd method but it’s worth knowing about.

Love your hat.

I suggest a Bickford seam. It’s almost invisible if done right. Line the edges up and pin or clip them so they don’t end up wonky, one side longer than the other.
