I just started the Rambling Rose cardigan and was wondering, once I start working the right and left front, whether it might be a good idea to work them at the same time (using separate balls of yarn) to keep them even? One side has a pattern, and for the other side which is plain, it looks like the instructions just call for you to knit it to a certain measurement and keep it even with the side that has the pattern. Thanks in advance!
I don’t know about this particular pattern but in general I try to work both sides at the same time for the reason you stated. It’s easier to be sure I do corresponding decreases or increases on the same rows. FWIW
Mmm, lovely pattern. There are a couple of Rambling Roses out there but this one has one patterned side and one plain. I agree with you and GG about knitting the two sides (or the two sleeves) at the same time. It might be worth measuring the two fronts against each other in case the pattern alters the measurement a bit (probably nothing that wouldn’t even out on blcking though).
My only suggestion in working two parts at once is to put a stitch marker between the two pieces on the needle. I’ve found that when I’ve done two pieces at once and don’t keep a marker between them, I lose track of which piece I should be working on if I happen to put them down.
The design in the link from salmonmac is the right one! Thanks you for your suggestions, I do think I’m going to try working the right and left front at the same time, and work the two sleeves at the same time as well, and I might also retype the instructions since they have the right side and left side being worked separately, so I can more easily follow along without jumping from one section to the other and possibly looking at the wrong section without thinking. Thanks again!
