OK, so now you got my attention! I was scanning through the different posts and saw one for a person asking for an easy scarf pattern. I checked out the different sites she was sent to and OMG I found the cutest scarf to match with my granddaughter’s fweater that I made last month. I had some left over yarn and it turns out all I needed was one skein and I had that, so I started to knit. This is the results of one hour of knitting. I am so thrilled and I think she is going to be as well. After all, how hard is it to please a three year old? I am knitting this in Caron Simply Soft Quick. The ruffle is Soft Pink and the scarf itself is Orchid. Princess colours for my little princess!
That is such a cute scarf! Is it mistake rib?
I knitted a simple pink scarf for my 4 year old niece and she was thrilled! Kids are so much fun to knit for because they really appreciate the new stuff.
I have no idea if it is “mistake rib” or not. It is very easy. The first row of the actual scarf (not including the ruffle) is k3, * bring yarn forward, slip next stitch purl wise*, repeat to last three stitches, k3. The second row is k1, byf, slip next stitch purl wise*, repeat to last stitch, k1.
Repeat these two rows to desired length. How easy is that? As for the ruffle it is just as easy. CO 60 stitches. First row: k2tog across (30 stitches). Second row: k2tog across (15 stitches) then start working on the “Eve ribbing” pattern. Remember to use chunky yarn and size 13 US needles. So quick, so easy, yet looks like I actually know what I am doing and can knit in my sleep. It works up quickly too! I did 13 inches in an hour.
Yes, I love knitting baby clothing and items for children. They are the easiest to please!
Looks great and the colour is stunning:)
Thanks ritaw.
Has anyone ever gotten insomnia because they were so excited about a knitting project? Here it is 4:17 a.m. and I am on here checking out other projects. This site has been so inspirational for me. I am learning how to make FO’s that look so complicated but are so very easy to knit. It’s incredible how easy things can be with a “little help” from friends. I am the only one that knits around this area, that I know of. Until I found this site, I was pretty much alone and only knit what I knew how to already knit. Now I am expanding my horizons and it feels soooo good!
Thanks once again to Amy, Sheldon and the Mod Squad for this site and all they do, so that people like me can chat, read, watch, learn and improve their knitting skills.
I was giving a link to this scarf and i’m so going to make it for my girls.yours is very pretty:)
That is just wonderful your little GD will love it x
It’s beautiful! I can’t wait to try this pattern!
Very pretty pattern!!! She will love it…
OK, so the WIP is now an FO. I can’t take a picture of it because I ran out of batteries for the camera, darn it! But you get the idea from the first picture as to how the last half looks. It was soooo easy to do and looks so cute. Also, it is very stretchy so great for children. I would recommend this pattern to anyone wanting to do an easy knit that goes really quickly.
