Rib 2?

Hi, I’m relatively new to knitting but think i’ve got the hang of most of the techniques, it’s just the wording on patterns that confuses me!

I’ve been doing a cardigan with k1 p1 rib round the bottom, sleeves, etc. I’ve just come to increasing row on sleeves and it says rib 2.
I just need confirmation how many stitches count for a rib, i.e. do both the k1 p1 together class as 1 rib so i need to do k1 p1 k1 p1 for rib 2. Or is just the 1 stitch (k1 OR p1) a rib so i just need to do k1 p1 for rib2?

Hope that makes sense! My mother-in-law has been teaching me but she’s not available at the minute to ask.

That means to work 2 sts in ribbing, so it would just k1 p1. The reason it doesn’t specifiy is because the incs will throw off the order of of the sts and the next row might be p1 k1 to begin.
