Reverse engineer a tuck stitch pattern!

Can anyone help me to work out how to do this pattern please?!!

It is apparently the front and back of a tuck stitch pattern worked on a mid gauge single bed machine. The pattern comes from Nancy Marchant but I can’t get hold of her book in the UK (circa 2017/9) I think.
I contacted the blog poster who made the swatch but it was a few years ago and I’m not hopeful of getting a response.
I have tried lots of combinations of tuck but I can’t envisage how to execute the second green row as this appears to tuck across all the stitches. I’ve Googled my heart out and am now obsessed!!

Even a hand knitting approach would be helpful as I could convert this. Thanks!

I was hoping our local library carried it but apparantly not. I never realized there were so many variations on tuch stitch but each video seems to show a different one. Have you looked at the Sockmatician’s version?

Thanks for looking! Our libraries have nothing either!
Nathan’s video includes purl stitches, which you can’t do on a single bed machine without reforming stitches. I was looking for a quick and easy blanket gift!!

The blogger of the swatch said she’d done it on the LK 150, which is my machine, but it looks like there are knit stitches on the back and the front, which is not possible with my machine! So I’m slightly sceptical to start with, especially as there is no ribber attachment! Only my curiosity is now piqued!
Thanks x

Maybe @flknit5 @MK_er or @Beth_Leatherman have some suggestions?

Hello Mel61 My advise would be to check out Susan Guagliumi’s website. I saw that she has a youtube video “Machine Knitting Essential Techniques” that says it covers Tuck Stitches.
It is a beautiful stitch, Good Luck finding directions.

Thanks! I have several of her books but I can’t find this pattern. I have pored over it for hours now but I suspect that it’s really a rib based tuck pattern!!
Thanks for your suggestions

Oh this is so lovely! I see why you want to recreate it and I do too so if you find the solutions please let me know!

The stitch seems to have been made with a needle beetle so I wonder if looking for needle beetle tutorials might help? Or if there’s a needle beetle stitch dictionary somewhere? Maybe even contacting the manufacturer?

Yes it’s lovely and yes, it was made by a needle beetle! I have a needle beetle too so was keen to use that!!
The blogger claimed that the images were the front and the back of the pattern but I can’t see how that’s possible given the shape of the stitches. I’m starting to think there was a lot of reforming involved, far too much to make a blanket size piece!!

Also, I’ve discovered that if you’re using the full width of the needle bed, you need to remove the yarn carriage each pass to allow the needle beetle to cross the full bed. That’s less convenient!!

Have you looked at the tuck stitch patterns on the website for the Needle Beetle? KristKrafter sells them. I think this stitch is the tuck stitch variation #5 done in two different colors. https://auntekristy.blogspot.com/2020/

Thank you ! I’d forgotten that resource so I’m happy to now bookmark it!
I wanted to make the second image of the pair - the one that makes a checkered pattern. It’s apparently the reverse of the first image and is made on the LK150.
I’ll give number 5 a go and report back!! ( After I’ve made the baby blanket - I had to fall back on an old tested method as time was running out!):rofl:
.

I keep umming and ah-ing about getting a needle beetle. Do you get much use out of yours?

I haven’t used it a great deal but I think it’s a case of buy it, and you will create opportunities to use it! I also bought the weaver and plan to make this pattern which is an 8 stitch repeat woven pattern!!

Oh! I didn’t know about the weaver! I think I need this now, too. Would love to see what you make with it.

She has a video that looks really cool! Plus, with an 8 stitch repeat, you can use them both together!
