Remedy? Forgot to join in the round on 1st rnd

Hi all,

I’m almost finished the body of a circular sweater and I forgot to join in the round at the start. What’s the surest way to secure the tail end before weaving it in, so my work won’t unravel?

Would a slip knot followed by weaving in the whole tail (I left quite a long one) followed by another knot work, or is there a special technique for this situation? I’ve found nothing through Google searches.

If it’s just one round that you need to join you can use the tail to close the small gap and then just weave the ends in as usual.
