Help! The lower ribbed bands on the sweater I just finished (knitted from bottom to top) are way too loose. My mother used to unravel the bands, pick up a row of stitches, then re-knit just the bands on smaller needles from top to bottom, without messing with the body of the sweater. Can anyone help me do this?
You can do this. Unravelling the edge from the bottom up isn’t as easy as unravelling from the top down, but it can be done. Find a row above where you want to unravel to and insert a needle or yarn in as a ‘destination row’–you can find how in the Basic Techniques/More–Fixing mistakes section for video.
Then you can cut off the cast-on and take out the ribbing to reknit tighter.
