How do you get tax exempt yarn, if you don’t mind my asking?
Evan, I’m like Jan - I really like the RH Soft the best. It’s soft when working with it and washes up beautifully. Caron SS is soft too but I find it more splitty to work with than the RH Soft. But both are MUCH softer than regular RH. Vanna’s is better … well hell anything’s better than RH isn’t it? … anyway, to me Vanna’s is not as soft as RH Soft or SS.
Yes, it was single stranded. I mentioned the 8s because that made the sts fairly tight for a single strand.
Another vote here for cotton ease. I recently knit a baby hat and booties with it - very easy to work with. I am also using it now to make a baby blanket. I too wanted something nice and washable (and affordable) but not as scratchy as something like SS.
The oatmeal and lime green are quite nice… as for the RH the feel dosen’t seem to bother me and if it gets better after you wash it great! Of course right now anything beats this cotton yarn that is kicking my ***, Lily sugar’ n cream. Zero stretch factor (RH good and stretchy) and I’m starting to rethink my first project.
I live in Oregon and we don’t have sales tax. I just happened to be in Washington (just across the river) killing time at their JoAnns when I saw the sale. I could have stood in line and showed them my ID to avoid the tax, but it didn’t seem worth it at the time :o)
Cool! I didn’t know it would be “reciprocal.” I thought sales tax was paid according to where the store is, not where you’re from.
Does Oregon have a high income tax?
I don’t think they’re ‘required’ to give us a sales tax break, but most places are so thankful for the business that they do.
Our income tax is ridiculously high (assuming you can find work in Portland…). I believe that our property tax is high too, but since I don’t pay that I’m not really sure ;o)
Now I wonder who I pay taxes to… I work in Washington so I’m going to have to check that out.
