Reading this part of the pattern- do I continue working the row or do I proceed to repeat instructions on the parentheses

R1(RS) : (k to 1 before M, M1R, k1, SM, k1, M1L)*, rep * 2 times, k3, turn

R2(WS) : mds, (p to M, SM)*, rep * 5 times, p3, turn

R3(RS) : mds, (k to 1 before M, M1R, k1, SM, k1, M1L)*, rep * 2 times, k to M, SM, (k to 1 before M,

M1R, k1, SM, k1, M1L)*, rep * 2 times, k to ds, k ds as 1 st, k3, turn

R4(WS) : mds, (p to M, SM)*, rep * 5 times, p to ds, p ds as 1 st, p3,

If the instructions state to repeat twice do I do it right after I finished what the instructions had asked me to do in parentheses again or after I am finished completing the row I am working on and turn my work to the wrong side?

I opted to continue

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
These seem to be German short rows. Work the direction in parentheses 2 times then k3 and turn to the wrong side. There will still be sts unworked on the left hand needle but that’s ok. You’ll get to them later in the directions.
Here’s one way of working German short rows which use the double stitch (mds means make double stitch).

The pattern I am working on. Thank you so much! I just don’t understand how the pattern wants me to repeat those directions in parentheses twice when it doesn’t say to turn my work for the German short rows.

So for the first row:
R1(RS) : (k to 1 before M, M1R, k1, SM, k1, M1L)*, rep * 2 times, k3, turn
becomes:
R1(RS) : (k to 1 before M, M1R, k1, SM, k1, M1L) (k to 1 before M, M1R, k1, SM, k1, M1L) k3, turn

The “turn” at the end of the repeats is making the short row. Turn so that the wrong side is facing you. The “mds” at the beginning of R2 (WS) is making the double stitch that is typical of German short rows. Then continue with the directions for this WS row.

Maybe this one?

Yes! That’s the one. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions.:folded_hands:t3:
