Great job! :cheering:
What exactly are you wanting to accomplish on Ravelry with your stash there? I have all of mine there as well, and love seeing what others have made with the same yarn.

One thing I want to do is just keep track of what I have so that I can check and see what yarn I have, even when I’m not at home. I know Ravelry is good for that and that alone makes it worth the work.

The other thing I was hoping for was some kind of a visual check off as I used my stash – I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting, but it seems that if I only use some of my various yarns, then I’m not going to be able to look at my stash page in a couple of months and say, “Wow, look at all the yarn I’ve used up!”

Once I’ve actually used some of the yarn and played more with the stash page, maybe I’ll feel differently.

Yeah, you can’t see a true quantity of yarn, by yardage, unless you change the quantity to .5 for half a skein, or something like that.

When you use an entire skein, you can change the status to “All Used Up”. That’s what I do. But, if I only use part of it, I just leave it alone, or change the quantity.

I hope you have an easy delivery in February!

I seem to have more enthusiasm than I have time or energy.

I was going to put my WIPs in my signature, but it I thought that five lines was kind of a lot with my ticker and all.

I guess I wouldn’t need to list everything, but I should keep track so that I don’t start anything else before I actually finish one of those other ones! :knitting:

:roflhard:

I was so sleepy driving into work this morning! I couldn’t seem to shake off the sleepiness, so I googled “pregnancy third trimester fatigue” (although I don’t remember putting in “fatigue” – I noticed that word in the search bar later. I really am tired! :noway: ).

Apparently this is completely normal, expected, and I should stop thinking I can get by on a mere 5 hours of sleep every night.

I don’t remember being this tired for the last two babies, but maybe I was getting more sleep then. And memory is a funny thing, isn’t it? I don’t remember as much about my last pregnancies as I think I should.

Last night I took my scarf into the bedroom with me to work on while I watched TV – but I propped myself up on my pillows and decided I just wanted to lay back and relax instead. I really want to finish it so that DS can start to wear it while he still likes blue , but it just felt good to not do anything besides hitting FF on the DVR remote every now and then.

I think I’m going to leave work a little early tonight – usually I stay until 5 or 5:30, but tonight I’ll leave on time (4:30) – and try to get myself to bed sooner.

I also think that DH has noticed me getting tired, even though I didn’t realize it, because he keeps trying to give me a break from the kids. I’m so lucky to have him to look out for me!

Yeah, it’s normal to be tired especially with the 3rd one. You are carrying around more weight and having to attend to your family which can really tire you out.

As to the sig… just don’t make it too large. There is a guideline for size in the forum guidelines linked above. One ticker is plenty so use smallish text and it should be okay. Or you can just use Rav for it. That’s what I do.

Thanks, Jan. I’m still thinking it would be better to reduce my WIPs first and not have so many. After I take down my ticker, my sig is going to look a little bare and maybe I’ll try it again then.

I posted this in the Stash Train thread too, but I think I’m going to try to limit myself to three active projects at a time. One with “old” yarn that I’m desparate to use up, one with “new” yarn that I bought since I started knitting two years ago, and that crocheted afghan that I’m bored silly with.

I sit up at night for an hour, watching a recorded show on my TiVo, and I’ve decided I’m going to try knitting during those shows. I’m not FF’ding through the commercials since I figure during those times I can concentrate fully on my knitting instead of having my attention divided.

Obviously, I can’t do anything complicated this way, but two of my projects are pretty basic blankets with no fancy designs and don’t require lots of thought anyway.

Last night I worked on DS’s scarf (“new” yarn) and tonight I’m going to start the Baby Log Cabin Moderne blanket with my old yarn from when I thought I could crochet afghans. (I can’t; I get bored before the end and give it up. I think I’ve finished two in my entire life before I decided to quit. Then I decided to make a small one and I’m still working on it.) Tomorrow I’ll crochet my afghan and then I’ll start over again with DS’s scarf the next time.

Hopefully this keeps things interesting and I end up with some FO’s instead of a bunch of WIPs. I only sit up about four or five nights a week, so hopefully I don’t get tired of knitting so much!

I am getting ‘bored silly’ doing all the garter in the Moderne Baby Blanket…I’m actually just using that as a guide though. I plan to make it a tad larger so it’s more of a lapghan since the colors are a little crazy from the stash. Anyway it works great as TV knitting since I can do garter w/o looking at each stitch. I just glance down once in a while.

Definitely! You should let yourself sleep as much as possible. Your body will favor the baby, and drain all your energy. So, be good to yourself and get LOTS of sleep.

I’ve heard that it’s good for the baby if you get plenty of sleep when you’re pregnant.

they’ve also done studies which show consistent lack of sleep also causes your arteries to harden.

Sleep now while you can, you’ll have plenty of time for middle of the night knitting sessions after the baby’s here and doesn’t want to sleep (when my youngest was a baby and had colic I figured out how to crochet while holding him during his middle of the night screaming sessions)

Thanks for all the sleep advice. The thing is, I’m up, anyway; I just decided to start using the time to knit.

I take my showers at night, and then I sit up for an hour aftewards to let my hair dry for awhile. If I do that, then it is dry enough in the morning for me to style. It also saves me time in the morning.

(I can’t blow dry it without it coming out all frizzy.)

This works well for me because it also gives me a chance to catch up on the shows that I record on the TiVo that DH doesn’t watch with me. Since I’m watching TV, my time is always fixed – I never run over that hour.

If I take my shower right after my kids go to bed, I’m in bed at a decent hour and I get enough sleep and all is well.

The problem is that I get distracted – DH is home before me, with the kids, and I’m the one that drops them off in the morning on my way to work, so pretty much the only time I really have to myself is that little bit of time between their bedtimes and mine! Instead of being good and taking my shower right away, I often find other things to do – both productive and not :teehee: – and then an hour and a half (or more) has gone by before I’m finally jumping into the shower.

I’m working at getting better about it. (This week has been a good sleep week! Especially after napping most of Tuesday evening and I’ve been catnapping before dinner and getting to bed earlier since then.)

It’s been a little bit of a struggle since the beginning of the year because I had a two week break over Christmas and got lots and lots of sleep – by going to bed later and waking up later than my usual routine. It’s getting back into that routine that I’m struggling with.

So, knitting before bed lasted maybe two nights. I find I really enjoy just vegging in front of the TV for those few minutes, rather than stimulating my brain with my knitting.

Since LOST started back up, DH and I have been making a point of watching the episodes while the kids are napping on the weekends. I’ve been working on a log cabin afghan during those times – it’s not the kind of show you want to be concerned about your stitches! It’s only been a couple of hours, but it’s still some progress.

Tomorrow morning I go to the hospital to deliver my baby. :inlove: I’m taking two knitting projects with me – the garter stitch log cabin and a simple basketweave scarf – and it will be interesting to see how much (if anything) I get done.

I’m also taking 3 magazines and my PSP. Between all that and the TV, I should be busy.

(The last time I had a baby I couldn’t have the baby in the room when I was by myself until I was able to get out of bed unassisted – which took about three days because of some complications I had. DH will be going home nights with our other kids, and I have no idea how long it will be – with a hopefully more “normal” c-section – before I’m running around on my own, so I thought I’d best have a variety of non-baby activities to keep me busy.)

I didn’t ask about internet access, but I’m not planning on taking my computer so there won’t be any updates (ie, baby pictures ;)) until next week sometime. :eyebrow:

You may not need all that, but better to have it just in case. Best of luck tomorrow!!:yay:

I really hope I don’t need all that – that I’ll be too busy for it all! – but it doesn’t hurt ME to bring it all along. (It’s DH that has to carry it all for me.)

Good luck! I’m going in for monitoring tomorrow and possible section on Thursday. I’ve got lots of knitting and magazines too

Hope everything goes smoothly for you

Thanks! Same to you! :muah:

WOW…luck and prayers for both of you!

Can’t wait to see our newest “members” :teehee: :knitting:

Any baby news yet?

Yes, sorry. I posted in another thread and didn’t think to post here too.

Little Nathan Michael was born on February 4 at 7:52 am. He was 8 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 inches long.

We’ve been home since Friday and settling in. His big brother and sister adore him – no signs of jealousy, thank goodness! – and he seems to be the sweetest baby ever. (Not that I’m biased or anything.)

Here’s a picture of Nathan at the hospital the day he was born, 3 days old with big brother Dominic, and 5 days old with big sister Michaila:

Dominic has shown a lot more interest in Nathan than Michaila, I think because he is older and because he is looking forward to having another boy to play with.

You have a beautiful family. Congratulations!

Congratulations! He’s adorable! So are you other kids!
