Next row (RS): K2tog and fasten off.
With RS facing, slip centre 7 [9: 9: 11: 11] sts onto a holder, rejoin yarn and K to last 2 sts, K2tog.
Complete to match first side, reversing shaping
HELP!!!

Thank you for any help in advance.

Welcome to the forum!
Call the next row, row 1. Decrease at the armhole edge on rows 2, 4,6,8,10 and 12. Dec at the neck edge on rows 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10.
For the second shoulder, you’ve decreased by k2tog at the end of row 1, follow that with decreases at the armhole edge on rows 3,5,7,9 and 11. Decrease at the neck edge on rows 2 and 3 and then on rows 5,7 and 11.

Your knitting is lovely and even.

Hi @salmonmac,

Many thanks for your reply.

So, am I right in saying that for Shoulder 1 the instructions are;

Rows;

  1. Dec 1 at beg (for neck edge)
  2. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  3. Knit all
  4. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  5. Knit all
  6. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  7. Knit all
  8. Dec 1 for Raglan and continue knit to end
  9. Knit all
  10. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  11. Knit all
  12. Dec 1 for Raglan and continue knit to end

Remaining 2 stitches K2T then bind off

Shoulder 2;
Place 7 centre stitches on holder
Remaining 14 stitches on needle

Rows;

  1. Knit to end of row and then last 2 K2T (13 stitches)
  2. Dec 1 for neck
  3. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  4. Knit all
  5. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  6. Knit all
  7. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)
  8. Knit all
  9. Dec 1 for Raglan and continue knit to end
  10. Knit all
  11. Dec 1 for Raglan and Dec 1 for neck (either end)

Remaining 3 stitches ???
Row 1) K2T, K1
Row 2) K2T
Bind off

Thanks for your kind comment. My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was very young. During lockdown I then decided to try again (35+ years later), but sadly my grandmother is no longer with us, otherwise she would have been by my side instructing me on what to do!

That’s so lovely that you’re continuing the skill taught by your grandmother.
Yes that makes sense for the decreases. You’ll find that like shoulder 1, shoulder 2 has 11 decreases and ends with 2sts. Knitting those 2 tog is the “fasten off”.

That’s fabulous, thank you so much @salmonmac for your help. I’ve not continued with it yesterday until I received clarification as didn’t want to unpick it if I went wrong! It’s been killing me not knitting!!! X

Hi @salmonmac,

I hope you are well.

I do apologise for contacting you directly but I was wondering if you would kindly help me once again?

This Rowan Oliver jumper and trouser set is making me scratch my head!

I am stuck at the MAKING UP section of the pattern.

Point 1 on photo pattern
Join both back raglan armhole seams using back stitch, or mattress stitch if preferred.
Does this mean stitching the back of both raglan sleeves to the back piece of the jumper?

Button bands (both alike)
With RS facing, using 31⁄4mm (US 3) needles and yarn B, pick up and knit 19 sts along front raglan edge of sleeve, between marked point and sts on holder.
Pick up stitches along the front of both raglan sleeves where stitch markers placed from the underarm/armpit area to top/neck end/remaining stitches on holders?

Point 2 on photo pattern
Left front button band
With RS facing, using 31⁄4mm (US 3) needles and yarn B, pick up and knit 19 sts up left front raglan edge, from cast-off sts at base of raglan opening to fasten-off point.
Work in rib as given for button bands for 1 row.
Row 2 (RS): Rib 8, yfwd, K2tog (to make a buttonhole), rib to end.
Work in rib for a further 2 rows, ending with WS facing for next row.
Cast off in rib (on WS).
Is this now working on the front left of the jumper?

Point 3 on photo pattern
Right front button band
Work to match left front buttonhole band, picking up sts down right front raglan edge and making buttonhole in row 2 as folls: Row 2 (RS): Rib 9, sl 1, K1, psso, yfwd (to make a buttonhole), rib to end.
Is this now working on the front right of the jumper from top/neck edge down to armpit area?

Point 4 on photo pattern
Front neckband
With RS facing, using 31⁄4mm (US 3) needles and yarn B, beg and ending at cast-off edges of buttonhole bands, pick up and knit 13 [13: 13: 15: 15] sts down left side of front neck, K across 7 [9: 9: 11: 11] sts on front holder, then pick up and knit 13 [13: 13: 15: 15] sts up right side of front neck. 33 [35: 35: 41: 41] sts.
Work in rib as given for button bands for 1 row.
Row 2 (RS): Rib 3, sl 1, K1, psso, yfwd (to make a buttonhole), rib to last 5 sts, yfwd, K2tog (to make a buttonhole), rib 3.
Work in rib for a further 2 rows, ending with WS facing for next row.
Cast off in rib (on WS).
I think this will be ok once I get there!

Sorry if I have confused you but I am not great at explaining! :woman_facepalming:t3:

Thank you @salmonmac x

That’s an adorable set.
Yes, stitch the sleeves to the back on either side along the raglan edge.
Yes, the left front as you would wear the sweater. These sts are picked up on the sleeve. The same is true for the right side. The button bands are picked up on the sleeve edge.

The buttonhole bands are picked up on the front raglan edges.

The front neckband is picked up along the front section of the sweater. The photo is a good guide for these steps.

The link to the pattern and your text are enough information. Would you please delete the pattern photos? We can’t reprint patterns here due to copyrights.

Thank you yet again @salmonmac for your help.

Apologies, have removed the pattern photos.

Will give this next step ago…slowly! X
