Quick Scarves in 100% Cotton?

Hello,

Can anyone direct me to a pattern for a scarf using 100% cotton? A friend of mine has severe allergies to lots of things, so 100% cotton is the only way to go. I’m looking for a pattern that will knit up quickly - perhaps using two or more strands together. It doesn’t need to be a super-long scarf, more like a fashion accessory. I suppose that I could adapt a pattern on my own. For instance, if the yarn indicated size 7 - 8 or needles and I used three strands together, what size needle would I use then? Also, I am thinking that a garter stitch would be nice (and easy).

If you want to do a simple garter stitch scarf, you don’t really need a pattern. Just knit a swatch and decide how wide you want de scarf to be. (if that doesn’t matter, just cast on some stitches) Then knit until your scarf is the desired length and bind off.

If you really want to use a pattern, you can also substitute wool for cotton. I ususally do the same thing with sweaters.
