Quick Q about knitting inthe round

I am sure this has been addressed before, but I was wondering if anyone had any hints for me. MOst times I have a “ladder” in the spot where I joined. Usually what I do is cast on an extra stitch and when I come around to join, I knit the first and last stitch together. This works really well, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on how not to have the ladder happen. I would really appreciate any tips/hints.

yup it happens because you are technically knitting in a spiral and not really in a circle. Google “the jogless jog” and you will find tips on how to avoid it. knitty has a good one that you should be able to find if you google it.
