**Questions about afghan and cable needle**

Hi All,
I found this pattern on the site and it’s more advanced than I am. I was wondering about this instruction:

C6B = slip next 3 sts onto cn and leave at back of work, k3, k3 from cn.

Does that mean I just leave the cn on the back side of the work and then k6? What does it mean to k3, k3 from cn?

Since this is my first time doing an afghan and my first time using a cable needle, any suggestions?

Here is the link to the blanket

Thanks in advance!!

Hi, it just means to slip the next 3 stitches onto the cable needle and leave behind your knitting. Then knit 3 from the left needle and then knit the 3 from the cable. Thats where the C6B comes into the pattern.

I usually slip the 3 stitches from the cable needle back onto the left needle after knitting the first 3.

Hope that helps.

It does seem to make more sense now…thanks for explaining it to me. Are there any tips worth sharing on making an afghan?? lol

I’ve never actually done an afghan but I’ve done plenty of cable patterns in jumpers and cardigans for my neices and nephew.

I love doing patterns that challenge me and such like that as I get bored doing just plain stocking stitch knitting.

Any idea where I can get 90 cm needles size 5? I’m looking online but am coming up empty…

I have no idea. I inherited my straights from my mum and grandmother. I’m getting the knitpicks interchangable needle set from my fiance for christmas. These are my first cable set and I’ve just started using dpns.

Is there no yarn shops near you that might be able to help you out?

No, not really. Here in Germany, the dollar is doing terrible against the euro, almost two dollars to every euro. So that’s why I was looking online.

not sure if this will work but I found these on ebay maybe they’ll be ok for you.

Afghan advice: Patience. They’re a big project, even if they’re labelled “easy”. Just take your time. I completed an afghan after about 9 months and I love it-but it was tons of work. That afghan is beautiful, and quite ambitious. Good luck, I know you’ll be fine. Cables are great because they look way more complicated than they are!

80 or 100 cm needles are more common sizes, you should try looking for them.
