Question about Seaming

I’ve been knitting (and then forgetting about…and then knitting…) this afghan for ages.

I’m finally done with all the pieces but I’ve never seamed or attached pieces of things before. Do I basically “sew” it together but with yarn instead of thread? Or is there a better technique so that it doesn’t come out a mess?

Thanks! I’ll post pics when I’m done…I may even tackle the pillow. The cable pattern was much fun to knit, but boy those box stitch panels were booooorrrring.

The best, most invisible seaming technique is the mattress stitch (under ‘Finishing’ about 2/3 way down the page). It is a little bit time consuming but VERY much worth it in the end.

Oh I’ll give that a try, thanks!!
While I’m here, I was intending to block all my pieces before seaming them together. Is that the way to go? Or should I put it all together and then block it as one big thang?

Blocking the pieces seperately can help with seaming sometimes - it helps the pieces to lie flatter which helps you to be able to line them up properly. Also, I can’t imagine blocking a big huge afghan!!!

True! I didn’t even think that far ahead…hehehe
