Hello everyone! I’m a beginner at knitting, so I was wondering if you guys could show me how to connect the side of a piece to another side. Thanks!

Putting two pieces together
Look about halfway down on this page at “finishing”.

But supposing I’m putting together two pieces and I have no idea how many lines there are (like they’re uneven) then what do I do?
I want the pieces connected at all four sides, and as I was looking at the mattress seaming video, she had these sides that I didn’t have. HELP!

If you’re attaching end to end rather than vertical stitches, you can still use the mattress stitch–just pick up a full stitch on each side and work back and forth. If your pieces are uneven, you can fudge and skip a stitch periodically on the longer side.
What are you trying to sew together?
Hehe… I’m making a patch quilt for my boyfriend of twenty months. 30 pieces, 10"x19.2"
