I have made 25 hats but have never liked the edge, you know those cast on stitches. Is there a nicer way to finish off the edge after completing the hat? Thanks.

I would use the Italian cast-on. It sets up for 1x1 ribbing and is super stretchy. I use it for cuff-down socks and haven’t had any complaints about it yet.

I use the long-tail cast on for my Pussy Hats, and would recommend it for you to use. It makes a nice edge to them that is flowing and very attractive. It is also stretchy, which is good for hats.

Tubular cast on is a good choice, too.

I’ve also seen the tubular cast and will try that as well. It makes such a difference in the look of the hat. Thank you.

The Italian cast on is the same as long tail tubular. I just watched both to make sure. The only difference seems to be the way the person doing the video likes to do the first stitch. Just personal choice here I think. It is a nice cast on edge.
