Purple Socks

When I was in about 4th grade I adored Donny Osmond’s Purple Socks. I remember getting glittery purple socks, I guest disco type socks, just like his. Of course now you can go to the store and buy all different styles and shades of purple socks. But now I can knit some too.

These are done in Knit Picks Essential Tweed, color Plum . The yarn is soft and easy to work with, but lots of tweed bits fluffed off. I haven’t washed them yet, maybe more will come off in the wash?

I followed sock directions from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. This is the second pattern I’ve made from that book. The lacy pattern is a 6 stitch rib called Oblique Openwork, the patten does make the sock twist, I need sock blockers, I guess. I think the tweed might distract from the lace, but this was the most solid sock yarn I had on hand and I wanted to try a lace pattern.

This is my 3rd pair of socks.

Thanks for looking.
