Problem with Paton's Must Have Cartigan pattern

Oh could someone please help me find out what I am missing on this one part of the pattern. It is panel B. It consists of a cable which forms a diamond with what I think is called moss stitch as an inset. Every thing works out stitch count. The problem is when I get to the row where the diamond starts to decrease (Row 1) when Crf4 is finished it wants me to start with a purl well this throws out the moss stitch and I end up with ribbing.

The pattern starts with row 1 which is the widest part of the diamond and narrows down to a point. Crosses over and then increases. First half works fine but when starting the second diamond/moss stitch is when the problem occurs. I have knit the left front about 4 times and can not get it to work. Anyone? Please I can’t seem to add the pattern here but it is called The Must Have Cardigan from Patons at the Ravelry site.

here is the link

I am sooooo frustrated I am only putting the pattern on the fronts I have the back and sleeves done in a block stitch.

The chart looks correct.

The center of the diamonds is indeed 2x2 moss/seed stitch.

Are you sure that you worked row 26 correctly?
Ex. The 7th st from the right appears as a knit on the rs (therefore it should have been purled when working that row from the ws). When you hit the 7th st on row 1, it appears as a purl and should be purled from the rs.

OOOO I will take a look at that very part. I am sure I am misinterpreting one stitch that doesn’t show up til several rows later. Thank you soo much As soon as I figure out how to resize my pics of the sweaters I have made I will post them …

I just looked and as I read it right after the wrap3 I purl two, then Crf4 (slip next three stitches onto cable needle) and purl next stitch
then knit three from cable
it is there with the next stitch I am ending up with purl over a purl and the process begins ( I am holding my knitting in my hand as we type right at that very spot. )

I tinked it back and the 7 stitch is appearing as a Purl not a knit … poop …

Thank you soo much RochesterKnitter. You helped me find the error of my ways. Your info helped me to see the pattern differently hence I found where I was going wrong thank you sooo much once again…

The 7th st was just an example. So glad it helped you solve your problem.

Well shiver me timbers … I found out another piece to the puzzle I was in. I was missing row 25 and 26 which was throwing the count out. I can think of a few different reasons why I didn’t notice these extra rows but the real thanks goes again to RochesterKnitter.
You got me to study the pattern and it is then I discovered the rows I was missing. So happy to say the equivalent of about what seems like 5 sweaters of knitting on just this front and the mystery is solved. BTW this is my first time working with cables/diamonds/moss stitch/wrap3’s so what a learning experience!

This is a beautiful pattern, a must have alright.
There’s also a small error in the chart for panel B, row 6. The 9th aquare from the right should have a horizontal bar in it, indicating a knit on the WS. Not something that would ever be noticed in the final sweater however.
Good luck with the rest and let us see a photo of the finished sweater if you’d like to post one.

Well the project is all done. I will post some pictures tomorrow. Thank you again for all the help. Great site!
