i started knitting baby caps with the intentions of donating them… but my local hospitals wont accept them! now what should i do with them?
(i am in southern ontario)
edited to say: Sick Kids hospital has TOO many hats as it is, so they arent accepting at the moment… and than my local hospitals don’t accept because of some issues they have had with had knitted items before (didn’t elaborate more than that…) but they said they would contact me if this changed
i have contacted the midwives in the area (they actually delivered my son) and they are going to accept some of them (can’t accept in volume, as they can only accept a limited number of patients)…
i am also going to give them to Hannah House (a safe house for pregnant mothers and their new babies)
What about the local charity shops or maybe donate them to a school so they can sell them at their fairs or fundays .
Or you could call up different hospitals and see if they might want them Good luck .
If you don’t mind paying postage, there are knitting charities that would love those preemie caps for their hospitals. I used to belong to Knitting4Children and I used to send preemie stuff to them when I got things knitted. I think they are based in Texas. I live in Washington state.
If you’re anywhere near London,Ontario Guardian Drugs has a programme that accepts knitted baby hats I have a friend who knits for them. You could ask at your local yarn shop about any organizations that accept hats.I’m in Windsor ON and our local hospital takes baby hats we donate through our Quilters Guild
There is a group over on ravelry. A young boy is collecting preemie and baby hats as a community service project and donated them to a hospital. The hats would need to be sent out by June 20th. The group is called Andrew’s Charity Hats, you can find the address there.
