Prairie Fire Sweater Lace - another question

I am starting with round 19 of the chart A of the lace pattern. The instructions are to repeat 19-24 as many times as required for my size (for my size, that’s 12 more repeats). How do I treat the 8 stitches that are outlined in bold (in the center). I understand intellectually that I am increasing for both raglan and lace in these repeats (odd rows only; even are knit across) but I don’t understand exactly how that works for the 12 repeats - IMG_2891

Your working 12 repeats of the rows in the pattern. As you work these rows you’ll be increasing sts. (There are more increases across the row than decreases.) Those increase stitches become part of the pattern by repeating the boxed 8sts.
So you would work across the sts before the repeat, then work the repeat however many times are necessary before finishing the row with the sts after the repeat.

Across the first repeat of 19-24 you have 22 increases and 14 decreases so in total there are 8sts increased, enough for another repeat of the pattern.

Salmonmac,
So, after each repeat of the 19-24, I should be repeating the 8 stitch boxed pattern part one additional time, correct?

Yes, one additional time across the row. You’ll see that you have extra stitches and they should be enough for another repeat on the next set of rows 19-24.
It’s a good idea to use markers between repeats just to keep them straight and make is easier to count sts.

Thank you, salmonmac - I’ve been questioning whether or not to proceed with this pattern because of having to keep such close track, but I’ve decided to challenge myself and go ahead, all because of you and Creations!

A challenge is good! If you have another question or doubt about the pattern just come back and ask. We’ll all be happy to help.

Hurrah for challenges!
Don’t forget looking at the finished project can help.
The diamond type shape has one extra diamond on each (staggered) row of diamonds.

Well, I gave up on this Prairie Fire sweater :frowning: I kept getting the stitch count wrong on the pattern repeat and decided that life was too short to keep being frustrated. So, I am going to start a different project - a hooded cowl (which I have never made before) and fingers crossed, I will be able to complete without taking years off my mental health life!

I’m sorry to hear of the frustration. Sometimes putting the project in timeout or repurposing the yarn altogether is the wise choice.
Hope the hooded cowl is a lot more fun!

Ah, that’s a shame, but you’re right, if you aren’t enjoying it there’s little point pressing on.
Enjoy the hooded cowl. What pattern is it? I keep wanting to make a hooded cowl myself but haven’t got beyond the wormhole of browsing patterns.

Creations,
It’s called Storm Hood by Aibliona McLochlainn - I’ve just cast on and already found an error but will email the designer; hopefully, there won’t be too many!

Thanks I’ve added it to my saves, although I think I need a bigger hood section due to lots of hair.
Hopefully the error will be altered.

Looks like it would be easy to add rows?
