I moved here from Texas and have just recently gotten into knitting… what’s around here for knitters???

I recently moved here also from Baltimore. This is definitely a knitting mecca.

I’m also the knitting guru for my local stitch n bitch at PSU. We meet on Wednesdays at the PSU women’s center from 12- whenever I get tired. We’re open to everyone, not just students so feel free to stop by. :heart:

What isn’t around here for knitters? There’s tons of places to get awesome yarn on Portland. There are also lots of knitting circles/clubs, I actually heard about this from feministmama’s Stich N’ Bitch, and that’s a really good place to meet cool knitter’s who can help and teach you pretty much whatever you want.

I live just outside the metro area towards the coast. Knitting Bee on West Union rd is my fave place. Boersma’s in McMinville is a great shop too if you’re out that way. Just found this site…too cooool!

my dh is taking me on a weekend trip to portland for my birthday in june, and i want to visit at least one LYS. which area would you reccomend we stay in? and do you have an absolute favorite LYS? thanks (and sorry if i highjacked this topic!! :muah: )

There’s a ton of really fine yarn shops in Portland. My fave is The Knitting Bee. It’s in the little shopping center at the intersection of 185th & West Union rd in sw Portland. You can go down hwy 26(towards the coast) & go right off the 185th exit to West Union rd. . There’s another called the Farm House on Farmington road that has beautiful yarn that’s arranged by color. It’s like walking into a fabulous rainbow. Take a left off the 185th exit & drive till you come to Farmington, then left again. The Farmhouse will be on your right(a mile or 2 in an actual house)down the road. Fellow PDX’ers, some of the other shops ??? :thinking:
