I am trying to use the popcorn stitch and make an EASY, FAST baby blanket in knitting, not crocheting. Can anyone explain to me how to do the popcorn stitch? I am looking for a blanket and hat pattern. Many thanks! This is the first time I am on this site. Sandy in NJ
I found this pattern for a knit version of the “popcorn stitch”:
Popcorn Stitch: (4x + 2 stitches)
R1: (wrong side) k1, *(k1, p1, k1) all in next stitch, p3 tog, repeat from * to last st, ending k1.
R2: P all stitches
R3: k1, *p 3 tog, (k1, p1, k1) all in next stitch, repeat from * to last st, ending with k1
R4: P all stitches

I believe it’s also called a “trinity stitch” (in case you want to google for it).
With the “(k1, p1, k1) all in next stitch”, you have to do exactly what it says. You knit into a stitch WITHOUT sliding it off the left needle, then you purl the same stitch WITHOUT sliding it off the left needle, and then you knit it again, and this last time, you slip the stitch off the left needle.
That gives you bobbley-looking stitch.
I hope it helps!
Oops, I forgot to post this link I found for you (for a trinity stitch):
