i wanted to try to make a hat and put a pom pom on the top, can someone tell me how to make and attach a pom pom? thanks!
First, buy a pom pom maker or make your own. To do this cut 2 circles out of cardboard and a smaller circle in the middle of both of them.
Next, put the circles together and start wrapping your yarn through the circles. Do this until the inside circle is covered in yarn. Or until you think it is thick enough. Or until your hands get tired. Or just until you think it’s enough. Practice makes perfect.
When you are done with that, take some scissors and cut the yarn around the circumference of the circle. Pull the circle apart a little bit and tie some yarn around the middle of your little pieces of yarn. Tie it tightly and leave a tail for sewing!
Then, fluff your pom pom. Sew it to the top of your hat!

Try here. It shows how to make one. To attach it simply keep the threads you tied it with longer and and sew it on the top of the hat. I think most patterns that show a pom pom on it will tell you how to attach it.
