Hi I’m new to knitting and trying to knit a baby cardigan, I’ve done the back and the raglan parts. Now I’m on left front, I’m now starting on the shape raglan armhole and front slope, I’ve cast off the 2 sts. of beg and worked the next row straight and finished the next row k1,sl 1 etc. Now I’m onto dec 1 st. At raglan edge etc, could someone please explain this to me as I’m so confused ! Kind regards Anita image|900x1200

Welcome to KH!
These are always confusing and especially when you’re beginning to knit.
Call the decrease row that you’ve already worked ( the k1, sl 1 etc.), row 1. Dec at the raglan edge on rows 3,5,7 and 9. Dec at the front edge on rows 5 and 9.
Thank you, I’ll try my best lol, will it be ok to message you back if I get stuck again please, kind regards Anita
Give it a go. I often write out the row numbers with a check marks for raglan decreases and front edges. Then I can cross them out as I work them.
Yes, come back anytime with questions or comments.
Yes I’ve found this very useful, going to attempt your instructions now that I have five minutes to myself lol thank you
Hi my instructions say, work 1 more row here for right front. I don’t understand this as I’m doing st.st. surely if your doing k1 row P 1 row how do you add 1 more row into it lol. Very confused x
If you’re just finished a knit row, then add one more row, a purl row. If you’ve just finished a purl row, work one more knit row.
Working one row of stockinette doesn’t automatically require a second row.
Also on this pattern I’m doing a plain v neck cardigan without the lace panels, when I come to the sleeves, I’m at the shape raglan top. I co the 2 stiches etc, done the 3rd row but when I get to the 4th row it just says purl 2 st. Etc. But I’m already on a purl row [quote=“Anita66, post:1, topic:140011, full:true”]

Immediately before the “Shape Raglan Top” instructions, the sleeve body states, “… ending with a wrong side row.” That means the next row is a right side (RS) row.
The cast off of 2 sts at the beg of the next 2 rows is then a RS row (row 1) and a WS row (row 2). Row 3 is RS and row 4, the purl row is a WS.
Thank you
Hi Anita
This doesn’t relate to your question unfortunately but I am wondering if you can help me. I began a Child’s Cardigan long ago & have lost the pattern. What I have completed Back & 1/2 of Front is similar but may be slightly larger. Could you tell me the Pattern name and if it is still in print? It may be helpful for me.
I hope you are able to resolve your issue.
Best Regards
Averil😊
