Pingouin Caline wool

Hi

I have a lovely pattern for Pingouin Caline Wool which was discontinued long ago; I was hoping if anybody knows this wool and is able to suggest a modern alternative, even the weight of the wool would be helpful.

Can you tell us what the stitch gauge for the pattern is? And is this gauge measured in stockinette stitch or in a pattern stitch? Also what size needles are recommended? From pictures this looks like a lovely soft yarn, perhaps with some mohair.
