Any tips on knitting a picture on a jumper ?
I have done one for the first time fairly pleased with it but room for improvement
Is it better to do the border, meaning a black edge around the picture on top of the picture
or all in one ?
The size of and intricacy of your pattern will determine what technique is best to use.
Technically, you can “insert” a picture just by changing the stitch, without changing your yarn/color. i.e. garter stitch image on a stockinette background or vice-versa.
For pictures with large blocks/changes of color, intarsia is best.
For pictures with small ares of color (i.e. frequent color changes) fair-isle/stranded knitting is best.
You don’t need to border/outline an image unless it creates the look you want.
What kind of picture are you thinking of? Sometimes it’s nice to do scenes or parts of famous painting without a border so that they are part of the sweater and other times you may want a frame. There are videos online and here at KH for intarsia and for fair isle that may help and offer useful tips. Duplicate stitch can be helpful for small areas, too.
I have just done a "hello Kitty "
I took your advice and purchased a video on intarsia so hopefully get some tips
I have done some fair isle stuff too I must say I found that easier
Thanks
I am not sure what you mean about garter stitch image on a stockinet te background
Have you a picture to show me ?
Thank you
Saw it cool !
