I want to pick up some stitches on a flat piece of stockingette but im not sure which stitches i should be picking up. the number of sts is not a problem but it is where i should be inserting the needle. Im picking up on the knit side if thats any help.
thanks in advance
Amy has a video of picking up stitches here. Scroll down towards the bottom.
well, id watched that and thought i had it. I was picking up two loops of yarn like she says, by going under each of the little 'v’s going across my work. but that just left me with all the work on top of my needle and somehow didnt seem right.
hmmm… so you are trying to pick up across the top of the work instead of down the side?
thats right and im a bit stumped. its not essential - i just wanted to add some cuffs onto the legs of my teddy bears trousers - but it would be nice if i could figure it out.
You can pick up stitches anywhere on a garment in that same way. Just stick your needle in the knitting wherever you want the new row of stitches to start!
