howdy, all!
i am pleased to report that i’m am 2/3 done with my first afghan! it is a massive amount of work and i hope to be done sometime within the next month, maybe?
the afghan is made in three long strips, like long scarves. (its a manos del uruguay design–the canyon throw–the best part of knitting the thing is knitting with the fabulous yarn.) the strips are made of lots of different alternating colors, so within each of the long, vertical strips, there are many different horizontal stripes of various colors. i’ve never seamed anything before, so the question is: how do i go about it? what is the best stitch to use? do i use only one color yarn or do i have to switch colors, given that there are so many different colors within each of the three long strips?
also, after i seam the thing (somehow), the instructions are that i pick up and k 225 stitches along the edge. i’ve watched amy’s video on picking up stitches and kind of get the idea, but each stitch i pickup is one more on the needle, right? how do i fit 225 picked up stitches on my needle? i just can’t imagine how this is remotely possible.
any ideas that anyone has would be appreciated.
knit on, fellow knitters.
best.
