I am following a pattern where I am told to knit several rows of moss stitch, then knit one more row, and then it says to pick up and knit 8 stitches along the side (of the rows ive already done). How do you pick up stitches in this way? All the videos and websites online presume you are picking up stitches AFTER finishing your work, but in this case my work is still on one needle. So i have to pick up with the other needle and i don’t know how.
Pictures/videos would be extremely helpful!
This video is for the tab to start a shawl. It shows knitting a few sts for several rows then picking up sts along the side of the rows. I don’t know if this is similar to your pattern but the idea is close:
See about 3:00 min.
Can you give us the name or a link to your pattern?
That at least shows me a way to do it with one needle, so thank you.
I don’t know if I’m allowed to share the whole pattern but here’s the section
Yes, the idea of picking up sts from the adjacent side is similar. If it’s easier you could probably pick up with a dpn or even a crochet hook, then slip the sts onto your working needle.
What is it you’re making?
It’s the base of an owl doorstop, where the edges are curved
Ah, interesting and fun. Enjoy knitting the doorstop and post a photo when you finish. We love to see finished projects.
