Pattern Trouble

Hi - I’m kinda a newbie when it comes to knitting - i just recently bought a pattern for a really adorable hat and i’m having trouble with the beginning of the pattern.

It says to cast on 96 sts on a circular needle, and then to join in the round. Then it calls for a twisted rib pattern - *Ktbl1, p1; rep from * to end.

It says to repeat until hat measures 1 inch from CO edge - I feel like i’m doing something wrong - so my question is for doing the round do i have to then just repeat said pattern for everytime i come back to my marker? Because when i did that it came out looking funny. Maybe i’m doing the Ktbl1 wrong. I dunno. Help!!!

Are you knitting the stitch through the back loop? If you’re not sure how to do this, go up to the Glossary at the top of the page and you can find the abbreviation and video of how to do this. Ribbing usually doesn’t look right until you’ve done a few rows, so you may be doing this right, but it won’t like like much until you’ve done several more rounds.

Yes, to knit ribbing in the round you just repeat the first round for an inch. Ribbing doesn’t look quite right until you’ve done about that much so just keep going.
