I am attempting to make baby shoes for someone, and am getting somewhat confused by the pattern.
Here is the pdf for it:
It’s saying to first chain 12 stitches, then work 3 single crochet stitches in 2nd chain stitch from hook, which I am guessing means just re-insert the hook 3 times into that same stitch doing single crochet.
Then I do single crochet in the next 4 chain sts.
Where I am running into trouble is the next step says half double crochet in next chain stitch. Don’t I have to go over a few to have the correct amount of loops on the hook to do this? But it wants it right in the next stitch. Do I add on a few loops with my working yarn onto the hook?
Your 3 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook will make a shell stitch. The video shows the shell with dc but the idea is the same. Working a half double crochet is just working another stitch and has nothing to do with whether you skip chains or stitches. HTH and that you’ll post a pic of the baby shoes.
Yes, you want 2 sc in ea of the next 3 sts. Thanks to X’s links I found that she actually has a video for doing the sole. Crochet Bootie Sole HTH
PS: I’m glad to answer questions and help as are others. The video should make it so you don’t have to wait for answers. Even if the video answers all your questions, you could still let us know how it’s going for you.
