Pattern Question

Quick question… my shrug pattern says to do this:

Shape side and front edge
Inc and work into patt one st at beg (side edge) of the
next row and 23 (25, 27) foll alt rows, working first 6
sts in panel B, the next 1 (2, 3) sts in rev St st, the next
6 sts in panel A and the final 1 (2, 3) sts in rev St st, at
the same time, inc one st at end (front edge) of next row
and 7 (9, 11) foll 8th rows working first 1 (2, 3) sts in
rev St st, the next 6 sts in panel B and the final 1 (2, 3)
sts in rev St st.

I get most of this. On “side edge” I’m increasing every alternative row for 23 alt rows. But then it says : “at the same time, inc one st at end (front edge) of next row and 7 foll 8th rows”. So it is saying to increase 8 rows straight on that side, not alt 8 rows, right?

You are increasing the side edge quite a bit, every other row, and at the same time gently increasing the front edge. You are supposed to increase on the front edge on the next row from where it says this and then you are supposed to increase every following 8th row until you have done that increase 7 times. So do it the next row, then count 7 rows where you do not increase and the next row, the 8th will be your increase row. Repeat that process, count 7 rows of no increase on that front side and the increase the 8th row. Do that until you have done it 7 times.

No, just inc at the front edge on the next row [I]only[/I], then on every [B]8th[/B] row after that. It will make a more gradual slant.
