Pattern Question: Translation of Instruction

Greetings All,

I have a pressing question regarding a hat I am making at the moment, and the pattern says to:

“Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear.”

Could someone help me out the with translation of this instruction? Does this mean that if I knitted on the previous row’s stitch, I should knit again on that stitch (and the same for purling)?

Thank you in advance for your help!

When a pattern tells you to k the knits and p the purls, look at the work as it faces you. If there’s V on the left tip, knit it; if there’s a bump there, purl it.

If you’re knitting flat, it’s the opposite of what you did on the previous row. If you’re knitting in the round, it would be the same.
