Here is a cabled bag pattern, but I don’t think they are exactly the same cables as in your picture. Pretty close though.
I only know how to do the braid:
Over 10 sts 4 row repeat
Rows 1 & 3 (WS) k2 p6 k2
Row 2 (RS) p2 slip next 2 sts to cn, hold in front, k2, k2 from cn, k2, p2
Row 4 (RS) p2, k2, slip next 2 sts to cn, hold in back, k2, k2 from cn, p2
Repeat rows 1 - 4
Best,
Susan
The large cable down the middle is called an Ensign’s Braid. I have it in my Knitter’s Bible by Claire Crompton, and I think it is in one of the Barbara Walker books too.
do you think you can give me the pattern for the Ensign’s Braid gardenmommy
can anybody give me tha pattern to the Ensign’s Braid?
The pattern for something like that is not simple. Most of the patterns come with a chart, photo and instructions. For something this detailed I suggest going to the bookstore (and/or library) and looking at stitch pattern books. This won’t be the last time you’ll need to look up a stitch. It’s kind of fun to look at them, too. :teehee:
