I’m knitting a jumper for my dog, and have reached a point where I don’t know how to proceed!
I’ve followed the pattern up to the point where it states:
‘inc as before but in every rs row until there are 84 stitches, at same time, when work measures 10cm from first markers, place a marker at each end of row to mark bottom of leg hole’
My issue is that I have increased stitches and now have 84 stitches on my needles, but the knitting only measures 5cm from the first markers.
Can you give us a link to the pattern or the name and designer please?
What was the row gauge in the pattern and did it match your row gauge? If you rows are smaller than the pattern gauge you might finish all the increases but not get to the length. Depending on the design you might be able to work straight until 10cm, or you might need to spread out the increases more, maybe every 3 rows instead of every 2, or every 4 then every 2… depending on the shape and size needed.
Are you using the same weight yarn that the pattern calls for? It’s also possible that the increases need to be spaced out differently so that at about 10cm you have 84sts.
If your row gauge is ok you may be about to work the extra length on the 84sts before marking the bottom of the leg hole. Knowing the pattern and the size you’re making will help.
If you’d like you can quote the increase section of the pattern (not a large portion of the pattern please due to designer copyrights).
