I need help with a pattern I just started. It reads as follows: 'knit increasing (26) sts. evenly spaced.” The total stitches should come out to 104 (of course, this is for the size I am making). This is for a neck increase round. How do I figure out how to space the increases? Also, it does not indicate what kind of increase to do.
If the type of increases isn’t specified you can do your favorite increase. Check the notes before the pattern to see if any increase is listed there.
Here’s a stitch calculator that you can use if you’d like. It uses a M1 increase which occurs between sts.
Wow - this is amazing! Thank you so much I did look through the pattern and did not see any increase mentioned. I always think of KfB as a neutral increase. Do you agree?
It may depend on what you learned first. Kfb will work but you’ll have to account for the fact that you’re using a stitch in order to make the increase. A M1 increases between sts so it doesn’t use a stitch.
