Hi! I am stuck here and would appreciate help. I understand rows 1-4 and how to make the increases but I’m unsure how to take the increased stitches into the pattern. If anyone could help me understand what I’m knitting moving forward I would very much appreciate it!
Row 1 (RS): K3, *yfwd, K2tog, K3, rep from * to end.
Row 2: *P4, K1, rep from * to last 3 sts, P3.
Row 3: K3, *K2tog, yfwd, K3, rep from * to end.
Row 4: P3, *K1, P4, rep from * to end.
These 4 rows form patt.
Keeping patt correct, inc 1 st at each end of next and foll 7 [12: 10: 10: 9] alt rows,
then on foll 46 [40: 44: 44: 48] rows, taking inc sts into patt and ending with WS
facing for next row.
What is the name of your pattern and designer, please? Seeing what you’re working on makes it easier to help.
It’s a Rowan pattern called Charisma by Martin Storey. Thank you so much!
If you place a marker at each end before beginning the increases, and leave the markers in place then the stitches between the markers will always be as the pattern rows. The new stitches will only work into pattern when you have enough new stitches to make the next part of the repeat.
At the beginning of the row you can begin the eyelet part with 2 sts increased but I’d wait until there are 3 sts in place. Work the increases as stockinette until there are 3 in place then you can k1 for selvedge (to help seaming later) and do the yo k2tog with the other 2 sts. Then slip marker and you follow the pattern.
At the end of the row, with 3 new sts you can yo, k2tog, and k1 as a selvedge.
As the stitches increase again on the coming rows the k1 selvedge will gradually become the k3 in your pattern repeat, these remain as the k3 (or p3 on the wrong side). Then continue in this way, only working the yo k2tog when there are enough stitches to do so.
Hope this helps
