Hello everyone
.
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
I need some help with a pattern. I want to knit this blanket:
I want to knit it flat on circular needles. The pattern is written for straight needles but I need to knit a larger blanket so I thought a circular needle would accommodate the stitches better.
My question is will using the circular needles throw this pattern off? And, if yes, is there some way to get around that? Iām not an experienced knitter at all so please help!
Another question I have is, I need the blanket to be 40 inches/100 cm wide. How many stitches do I need to increase for that? And again will it throw the pattern off in anyway?
Thank you

Ooh, really pretty pattern! The best way to figure out how many stitches youād need is do a swatch of the pattern. Make a note of how many stitches you cast on (I imagine this one would be a set āmultiples of x amount stitchesā, so cast on enough for one or two repeats if so), then tally each row as you finish one until you feel itās large enough. You should be able to get an idea from that of how many stitches/rows your blanket would need.
Also, circular needles should be ok. Many people use those for blankets anyway, even with complicated patterns.
Okay, Iāll do that. Thank you so muchš

Youāre welcome, hope you get on ok with the blanket!
Beautiful stitch! Note that the pattern says to cast on a multiple of 18 stitches. That is just for the repeat. There are 6 stitches each side Of the blanket that are not included in the 18. Later it says to cast on 138. So 138-6-6=126. 126 divided by 18 = 7. So there are two borders of 6 stitches and 7 repeats of the pattern. When you increase the pattern size, you have to increase by multiples of 18 (that is, 18, 36, 54, etc.). I just wanted to be sure you didnāt cast on multiples of 18 and come up short! You may also want to consider the repeats of the colors and how many of those you want. If you repeat exactly the color sequence, you may be looking at a really long blanket! I didnāt check that part out.

Thatās a really beautiful color combination!!! I wanted to comment that if u use 2 strands of worsted weight yarn together and increase the needle size to 13 or 15 (in US sizes) you might not have to add any stitches!!! Iāve been knitting a lot of afghans this year and 138 sts is a great width with doubled worsted yarn and size 15 needles.
Of course you would need to buy a whole lot of extra yarn!!! But I think it would come out really nice!!
