Pattern help with increases please

I’m just reading a pattern through before attempting it and I’m somewhat confused with the increase instructions for the sleeves. There are 48 sts and the pattern says starting with a K row, work in stocking st, shaping sides by inc 1 st at each end of 3rd and every foll alt 6th row until there are 58 sts, then on every foll 8th row until there are 66. Work straight until sleeve meas 30 cm ending with RS facing. I’ve never come across a pattern instructing the increases at following alt 6th row. Wouldn’t this be every 12th row, in which case wouldn’t the sleeve end up being long enough to fit a gibbon?

You can get an idea of the sleeve length from the row gauge or from your row gauge. It’s not the most straightforward direction but it seems to mean alternate 3rd and 6th rows.

So you would increase on rows 3,9,12,18 and 21. Then increase on rows 29,37,45 and 53.

Thanks for this. I did occur to me that was what was meant.
