Hi there - I am a fairly new knitter and sometimes have basic silly questions - I’m afraid this is one! I am starting a new project (Wagenfeld sweater - Ankestrick pattern) and the directions for cast on say:
_Set up round: purl, join, being careful not to twist stitches.
Does this mean I should do a purl cast on instead off typical long tail knit CO? I’m sure I will have more questions as I work through this pattern, sort me know if you have made this sweater!!

Do the cast on that you prefer and then purl the next round, the set up round. You can either join to purl in the round after the cast on or join after that first purl round.
Haven’t made this one but it’s a good one to add to the queue.
