Basically, you’re knitting a tube. There are some increases but other than that you’re working in ribbing and stockinette stitch. You can use magic loop or your favorite method for knitting in the round.
This may be one of those patterns that becomes simpler when you put it on the needles or is there some part in particular that’s causing a problem?
This is what’s confusing me :
Next round increase 4 sts evenly across ( knit 8, inclu 1, repeat 4 times )
So do I knit 8 and knit one more, do this 4 times? That’s it?
Also is 0.5 inch … just 5 inch?
next round, increase 4 stitches evenly across (k8, inc 1, repeat 4 times)
work stockinette for 0.5 inch
Knit 8, increase…you can use a m1 and repeat around. Work even (no increasing) in stockinette for 1/2 in.
There are videos for increases in the Free Videos section.
Yes, you want to increase 4 times by knitting 8 and then picking up the bar between stitch 8 and the next stitch and knitting into the back loop. You could also knit into the front and back of stitch 8 if you prefer.
0.5 inches is correct, half and inch. Earlier in the pattern you stockinette stitch for 2 inches and then 0.5 and finally another 0.5. The pattern says you should have a total of 3 inches in stockinette.
Love to see a photo of these when you’re finished.
Oohh ok.
I’ll definitely look up a video for the make one.
I didn’t know that’s what " incl 1" meant. Glad I asked!
Ok so just knit 8, make one and repeat until the end of the row. Got it!
Hope the make one is easy enough!
Now if I were to knit in one colour and want to switch to a second colour and back to the main colour. How should I go about this?
There is a picture on the link I provided that shows the two colours.
I’ll definitely post a photo! Thanks for your help!

I’m not sure where you got incl 1. The pattern I’m looking at uses increase 1. http://iknitthatsit.blogspot.com/2008/05/baby-legwarmers.html I presumed that it was an autocorrect type of thing that replaced the r with an l.
I know how to add the second colour I was just wondering your opinion on where to start the second colour like the picture in the link
I can’t thank you two enough for helping me!
Im so excited to get these done to match the hat i made. Im also going to add a small bow to them
For the make one videos… which would i follow?
There is make on away, make one purl and so on.
Try M1L. It’s useful in many situations.
When you have time, play around with some of the increases you mentioned and see which you like and get a feel for which may work better in different places.
