thanks so much!
omg i’m so frustrated with this pattern. I finished the first stocking (the red one) and now and starting to work on the bone one. I got to the part where it talks about cuff turn back and can’t for the life of me remember how i did it!
this is how the pattern reads:
Change to MC and St st; work even until cuff measures 5½-inches from beg, increasing 26 sts evenly across last rnd – 94 sts.
Push work inside-out through circular needle for Cuff turn-back.
The last st worked now becomes the first st of next rnd; this will leave a small gap, which will be closed while finishing.
I think i remember on the other one knitting with the pushed up part facing up toward the celing but i just can’t get it to go, i’m ready to tear my hair out with this thing.
Ok done venting, if anyone has any ideas, thanks.
Edit: ok I’ve played with it a little bit, I pushed the work up through the middle of my needles so my work faced up toward the celiling, then turned my needles around so my work faced the floor with the wrong side facing, so that my last stiched worked on became the first stich of the new round, but it looks like my stiches are upside down, like they would be going the wrong direction. Is this right? Anyone have a good website that explains turn over cuffs?
Thanks for all your help!!
I don’t know about a web site, but you did it correctly. I was just coming in to tell you to push it through and flip the whole thing over.
The stitches on the cuff will be upside down–you just turned it upside down. I’m sure the red one is the same way.
Don’t forget to post pictures of the two when you’re done!
The red one turned out nice, nicer than i thought it would. I went back and added a name with a dupilcate stitch. I’m hoping this one works out since it’s mine!! Its the new stitches that look upside down, but I figure i’ll just go for a while and see how it looks, and I always have more yarn if it doesn’t go right!
I have learned something with all this stocking business. Don’t attempt to knit in the middle of the night. I was working a night shift the other night and it was slow so i got to the turning the cuff part, and I think the fact that it was nights slightly messed with my brain.
I often look at my knitting in the light of day and :?? about what the heck I was doing in the wee hours. I THOUGHT I was zooming along, but sometimes have to laugh at the stooopid mistakes I make.:teehee:
here is the completed red sock! not sure how to change the size of the pic

It looks wonderful!
